LAVENDER HONEY CAFE

Meet Keliann
Hi! I was born and raised in New Milford, Connecticut. By the time I was getting ready to go to New Milford High, I made the last minute decision to go to Henry Abbott Tech over in Danbury. There I fell in love with the Culinary Arts program. I'd always enjoyed cooking and baking with my mom, but learning the technical knowledge and in-depth skills of the culinary world solidified my passion and showed me what I was meant to do. My love for food quickly grew, and I knew that one day I would have my own business. After high school, I joined the U.S. Army Reserve. I used the money I earned from my military service and civilian jobs to move to South Carolina. I was there for three years, selling banana bread and cookies on the side before realizing I was homesick. In 2021, I moved back to Connecticut and found a new home in Litchfield shortly after. Now that I feel settled in my home back where I belong, I can begin my dream of starting my bakery. To get started, I needed to get educated on running a business. I was able to find the Connecticut Women’s Business Development Council (CTWBDC) and they taught me everything I needed to know, answered all questions I had, and set me up with the resources I needed to get started. Now, I am a registered cottage food operator with the hopes of opening a storefront some day.
